When Saturday Comes celebrates 25 years in print

Cult football magazine <i>When Saturday Comes</i> (<i>WSC</i>) has celebrated the 25th anniversary of its first issue.

The first issue of the magazine, launched in March 1986, was a photocopied, hand-stapled pamphlet, initially aimed at "intelligent football fans".

It has built up to a circulation of 19,653 and has been printed by magazine giant BGP for the past 11 years.

Throughout 2011, WSC will be publishing a series of "25 years" features, examining various aspects of football and its fan culture.

Topics covered will include the public image of supporters, the broadcasting revolution, what football has done for television and vice-versa and the changes to the football-spectating experience.
