Since it was founded in 1987, the large format and P.O.S. specialist printer has progressed from pure screen printing to incorporating digital technology and Willis said the 16 staff, £1.5m business had kept up with the market by keeping an eye on new technology.
"We now offer a good mixture of traditional and digital technology. Whether customers want roll fed or flat bed technology we want to be sure we can always offer both."
He said he was proud of the way the company had progressed. "We started from scratch and now we’re a medium sized company that does jobs from the Channel Islands to the Shetlands and everywhere in between."
Following a relocation to its 2,320sqm site at Shires Bridge Mill in 2006, Screenprint started updating its equipment. Eighteen months ago it bought a Hewlett Packard UV printer for £100,000, adding another one six months later and in April it bought a Crosland Profoil Platinum die cutter.
Willis said the company was able to buy it at a discount from a company that was closing down. "We had always wanted one so it was the perfect opportunity. Now we can do all of that work in house instead of having to outsource to local companies," he said.
Willis said the company had never tried to punch above its weight. "As a medium sized company we stick to what we know. We’ve got no plans to move into the premiership," he said.
