The machine, which is due to be installed at the firm’s Sandhurst, Berkshire-based premises in December, was bought from large-format reseller Printmax, which added the entire range of Mimaki printers and cutters to its portfolio last month.
The JFX200 produces high-quality output at speeds of up to 25sqm/hr and 12.5sqm/hr with simultaneous white ink printing. It has a maximum print area of 2.5x1.3m and can be used for printing on 8’x4’ boards.
“Our productivity is going to increase quite dramatically. At the moment we’re currently printing onto self-adhesive vinyl and then applying to different substrates, whereas this is going to print straight to the board,” said Weedoo Signs manager Stuart Barker.
“Our quality and efficiency are going to go through the roof.”
Weedoo Signs is part of Freight Products, a group of companies that offers a wide variety of signage, livery and industrial products. The firm also runs a range of other machinery bought from Printmax including Roland XC-540 and XJ-740 printers and a Roland CAMM-1 vinyl plotter.
“Our group owner, who bought us the JFX200, has previously bought the same machine for another company in the group, Sandhurst Autoprint. So he knew how good it was and it made sense to get us one of the same,” said Barker.
Weedoo Signs has six staff and a turnover of around £300,000. It designs, manufactures and installs a variety of outdoor graphics and signage for firms in the events, retail and health and safety industries.
