Cradley Print has welcomed sales director Phil Webster back into the fold, but has parted company with operations director Mitch Collis.
Webster, who went on sabbatical last summer, is returning in a part-time role, working three to four days a week. Phil will be picking up some of his old accounts and developing some new ones, but will also be getting stuck into some big projects for us, explained joint managing director Chris Jordan.
Collis resigned this week and left the group immediately. Jordan said he would not be replaced. The challenge is different now. Our hardware and workflow is in place, so its not about what bits of kit we choose, its the quality of production.
Collis plans are unknown, but his expertise in CTP systems and workflows led to speculation that he may join Cooper Clegg. However, the Tewkesbury web printer quashed this.
Jordan said that 2002 would be a really customer-focused year. The group has set up a team of three staff to support the customer services department and ensure that customers are up to speed with PDF and related technologies, and has appointed Phil Paddison as operations manager to focus on quality measurement systems.
The West Midlands printer has also captured the contract for the London and Paris versions of Where magazine, which is distributed via hotels. It is published by Los Angeles-based Where Publishing. Our ability to offer them remote approval from the States gave us an edge, added Jordan.
