With the VarioPrint 6250 (pictured), the firm hopes to make serious inroads into the market Xerox has dominated with the 180ppm DocuTech 6180.
It achieves its best-in-class speed by printing both sides of the sheet simultaneously using a new imaging technology, which the firm calls Gemini, after the Latin for twins.
As well as debuting at the annual open house, the 6250 will be the star turn on the firm's Ipex stand.
"This breakthrough technology reaffirms our commitment to lead the digital production market, said Oc chief executive Rokus van Iperen. "Our high-speed printing organisation has led the way in continuous feed for decades. Now we bring the same kind of innovation to high-speed cut sheet printing."
The machine, which will cost between 250,000 and 350,000
depending on configuration, is suitable for monthly volumes between 600,000 and 8m A4 pages.
It is modular with a choice of one to three, four-drawer paper feed units providing a maximum possible paper capacity of 13,800 sheets. It also offers one or two 6,000 sheet stackers. It also supports third-party inline finishing including the new Watkiss PowerSquare square-backed bookletmaker.
