Van Gennep and Adam Software announce partnership

Publishing workflow software developer Van Gennep has teamed with the digital asset management (DAM) developer Adam Software to deliver a DAM-based, end-to-end workflow publishing platform.

The partnership combines Adam's eponymous DAM platform with Van Gennep's multi-channel publishing workflow, PlanSystem, which is used by clients including Bauer Media Group and Reader's Digest International.

Ton van Gennep, chief executive at Van Gennep, said: "This partnership will provide first class integration between both software vendors, allowing for better use of assets and a faster, more controlled execution of editorial workflows. This in turn will lead to real cost savings and faster times to market."

The deal marks a continuation of the trend towards DAM systems expanding into the field of digital asset-driven business process sytems and follows previous partnerships between Adam and Esko - for DAM and packaging - and SDL Tridion - for DAM and web content management.

Pieter Casneuf, chief executive at Adam Software, said: "This strategic alliance of Adam Software and Van Gennep will provide a major boon to the publishing industry.

"With a highly efficient workflow geared towards the growing necessity of multi-channel publishing and asset re-use, publishers will gain complete and unprecedented control of their publishing processes in a way that both simplifies and improves on current processes."

Van Geppen will release an update to PlanSystem in early 2011 to make the software fully compatible with the Adam v4 platform, while PlanSystem 5 - due for release in the second half of 2011 - will make use of Adam's full functionality and be the first editorial system powered by a DAM system engine.
