Craig Schmieder, president of Applied Media Resources, which created Formdex, said there was nothing comparable to the software in the UK.
There have been a few attempts to offer something similar but they maintain an ASP environment where the supplier is in control. With Formdex the customer has the key to the system, said Schmieder.
An installation comprising ordering, typesetting and back-end production modules costs 50,000. Additional modules, including collaborative design and proofing and interactive customer relationship management, are 13,000.
