UPM signs five-year pressroom waste deal with Prinovis Liverpool

Paper giant UPM has signed a five year pressroom waste deal with gravure printer Prinovis Liverpool.

Under the contract, UPM will recover all pre-consumer material and provide the company with an in-house waste management service.

Craig Robinson, head of sourcing UK & Ireland, recovered paper, UPM, said: "This contract supports UPM Shotton's vision which is to be the front-runner in creating value from renewable and recyclable materials whilst providing innovative and sustainable solutions to our partners."

Peter Slack, operations director, Prinovis UK, said: "UPM demonstrated a thorough knowledge of our waste management needs and UPM Shotton's operation is a clear example of successful and sustainable manufacturing.

"The contract further supports our vision of environmental performance and improvement across all of our sites."

This is the first time that UPM has provided this service on site, further expanding the UPM recycling service offering.

In January 2010, the company announced it was to invest £17m in the development of a materials recovery facility at its Shotton paper mill in North Wales
