Product development engineer Vicky Morris said the 100% recycled sheets had so far been trialled at 40 sites in the UK and Ireland, including News Internationals Wapping and Knowsley plants.
The trials had been hailed from all sides as very successful, she said. From next month all Shottons newsprint customers will switch to the 100% recycled grade when the plant in North Wales converts to 100% recycled fibre production.
The recycled fibre pulp facility forms part of the 124m newsprint-recycling project, for which UPM-Kymmene is receiving aid from the Waste Resources Action Programme.
