UPM launches investigation after worker is injured

UPM Shotton has launched an investigation over a serious incident that occurred at the plant on Monday, where a male operator received injuries to his head.

Paramedics attended the scene at 16.30, and it is understood that the man’s injuries are not fatal and that he is stable in hospital.

David Ingham, general manager at UPM Shotton said: This incident has affected us all. Our thoughts are with the injured employee and his family and we wish him a speedy recovery.

He said that UPM Shotton has an excellent health and safety record, and that health and safety Executive has been notified.

He said: UPM will work with the trade union safety representatives as part of the overall investigation to establish the cause of the incident.
