In a statement to PrintWeek the company said: "For the record, CCR Data which is a multi-faceted direct marketing bureau of some 12 years with a good presence in the luxury boutique sector, has acquired on the open market, printing and finishing equipment relevant to high-quality catalogues and book production.
"We have employed a number of staff some of which were previously employed at Romsey. We have formed a new vehicle for this activity."
The company also confirmed that "no former directors of MPI have any share holding in either CCR Data or the new vehicle and are not on the payroll".
The company will trade as BAS Printers and forms part of CCR's strategy to offer print as a bolt-on service to its existing offering.
Managing director Edward Spicer said: "We are data people and we wanted to offer our clients a better opportunity to fulfil their print requirements."
He added that the near parity of the pound against the euro meant that its predominantly European-based clients could print at a more cost effective level in the UK.
CCR counts Chanel and Louis Vuitton among its clients.
The news follows assertions from Borcombe's former owner, Datateam Publishing, that confusion over the ownership of BAS Printers led to the closure of the business.
Finance director Douglas Wright told PrintWeek that "bits of the business we thought we owned and had licence to were liable to be taken away", resulting in the potential loss of £2m of turnover.
Wright added that Datateam had bought the business in the belief that it would own BAS Printers. He would not be drawn further.
Wright's assertions were challenged by administrator Harris Lipman, who sold the company to Datateam.
UPDATE: CCR Data confirms asset acquisition
CCR Data has confirmed that it has acquired some of the printing and finishing equipment that was housed at Borcombe SP and said it has taken on some staff but has distanced itself from the former owners.
