Greenwich-based TPS is replacing its 12-year-old Speedmaster with a CD 102. The press has been specified with CP2000 press controls, and AxisControl colour management. It has also installed a new Heidelberg Suprasetter and MetaShooter.
Prior to the spend, managing director Phil Williams (pictured) visited Heidelberg's factory, where he saw a CD 102 running 80gsm stock at 15,000 sheets per hour.
The press was subsequently tested using some of TPS' more difficult jobs, including those using heavy solids.
The Drupa-launched Preset Plus feeder on the CD also allows the company to handle boards and lightweight stocks on one machine, whereas previously it had to put the work out.
The five-colour CD 102 will be delivered to the firm over the Christmas break.
TPS was set up five years ago and specialises in exhibition-related work.
TPS replaces press with 1m CD 102
TPS has invested around 1.1m in a Heidelberg Speedmaster five-colour CD 102 and spent 51,000 on pre-press kit to provide greater flexibility and retain work in-house.
