Supplied by Friedheim International and installed last week, the machine has replaced a small desktop digital laminator, which will likely be sold on.
It will sit alongside Heidelberg litho presses, Konica Minolta digital printers and an existing finishing portfolio that includes a B2 Heidelberg Cylinder, a Duplo 600i Booklet System and a Polar guillotine.
“As we do a lot of digital and litho this just gives us more control if jobs are urgent and means we can now turn things around even quicker. Our previous laminator was quite labour intensive and didn’t separate sheets,” said TPC managing director Ben Nixon.
“We don’t outsource an awful lot now – keeping things under one roof allows us to keep control of costs and timings.”
The business also considered various alternatives, including the Matrix from Vivid Laminating Technologies, but found the Komfi Delta 52 best suited its requirements in terms of price and specification.
Suitable for non-stop operation, the machine facilitates lamination of sheets ranging from 115-600gsm. It features automatic sheet feeding and a built-in perforator that automatically separates sheets.
“Friedheim’s service was spot-on, they were very good to deal with, and training has gone well so far and we’re going to get a bit more,” said Nixon.
“We’ve run some fairly large jobs through the machine already and we’re just getting to grips with it, but so far, so good.”
