The inks, designed for use on rigid substrates, received Xaar's 'Approved' status after passing its test criteria, which includes material compatibility, printhead lifetime testing, print performance and reliability testing.

Toyo Ink inkjet sales and marketing manager Kazuya Yamashita said: "The agreement enables our customers to use our inks in Xaar's advanced printheads with absolute confidence, which is becoming increasingly important as the single pass inkjet printing market emerges."

Xaar said that by teaming up with companies such as Toyo Ink, its printheads would avoid problems such as blockage and component failure.

Xaar ink product manager Jill Woods said that Toyo Ink was "synonymous with innovation and performance".
