Print services covered by the contract, which has five years’ duration, were previously carried out exclusively in-house, until a fire forced a portion to be outsourced via an interim contract award.
Consultations are taking place regarding the transfer of a number of Glasgow City Council employees under TUPE regulations. In addition, TNT will be expected to take financial ownership of the printing and enveloping equipment, which is still under lease to the council.
The contract includes variable data printing on items such as council tax letters, cheques and pressure-sealed payslips, in addition to enveloping and mailing. The council estimates a requirement of 15m printed images per year.
