TL Visuals opts for full CIP4 workflow

TL Visuals is set to become fully JDF compatible when its new Heidelberg finishing equipment is integrated.

The 70-staff company already has Prinance MIS, complete with estimating and job bag creation, but will become a truly CIP4 company when its finishing is linked to its pre-press and press departments.

TL Visuals currently uses PreSet Link to take pre-press data to its three presses a 12-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 102-12P, six-colour CD 102-6 and five-colour SM74 with coater.

Managing director Charles Lewitt said: One of the benefits is real-time from the kit, which will allow us to refine our estimating and make it more accurate. Also if a customer calls we can tell them exactly where their job is.

Bringing all the plants production departments under a single workflow would reduce the risk of human error, he added.

In the next two to three weeks the firm will take delivery of a TDT78 buckle folder, which will replace an MBO. And it will also install a five-station ST400 saddle-stitcher with cover feeder before Christmas.

The firm already has a Polar 115 guillotine, jogger and handling equipment with Compucut CIP4 links in place.

More than 50% of TL Visuals 8m turnover comes from the financial sector, with the remainder from general commercial work.

Heidelberg says the latest versions of its Prinect Printready System and RIP and workflow software MetaDimension are available immediately. Both software releases are part of the Prinect workflow.

The software can be used on all Heidelbergs film and plate recorders.
