Its "professional quality images" helped ImagePrograf iPF5000 secure the prize, judged by an association of independent, non-profit making photo and imaging publishers in Europe.

"Our large-format printer business has grown across Europe by 45% in the past year," said Canon product marketing manager Anne Sharp. Judges were won over by the kits 12-colour ink set, 2,560 nozzles per colour, and resolutions of 2,400x1,200dpi.

TIPA, which promotes innovative imaging and photo technology, singled out 34 items of kit at its European awards event in Geneva. The awards will be presented at Photokina later this year.
