The 929sqm UK print facility in Basingstoke, Hampshire was opened this week and aims to deliver “a vast range of digital printing and branding services for local, national and international clients”.
Run by Paul and Emma Marsh, THEMPC was established in 2013 as The Marketing Production Company to manage the creation of branded marketing assets and other print services for clients.
It is now expanding and bringing the majority of its printing jobs in-house to ensure consistent quality for clients, and to enable it to produce marketing assets faster.
Emma Marsh said: “The quality of your print and branded assets is a reflection of your brand. Yet we know from managing thousands of print jobs that sadly you don’t always get what you’re expecting, or when you’re expecting it.
“We’ve always invested back into the business, and we’re delighted we now have the space, highest quality professional equipment and fully trained staff to manage all kinds of in-house printing ourselves."
The simultaneous launch of THEMPC Europe, the company’s new hub in Munich, will enable the business to produce and distribute printed assets inside the EU and save its customers paying extra duties and taxes on products it distributes to EU destinations.
Paul Marsh told Printweek: “It will be imperative for companies to follow suit as the issues surrounding duties and taxes won’t be going away – assuming they trade internationally and are impacted by this.
“And an increasing awareness of carbon footprint and environmental impact will mean regional satellite support businesses managed via a central source using managed software and integration will be a much easier way to manage print requirements and also provide a faster response time with low risk of customs delays.”
THEMPC Europe offers all the same services for customers within the EU. Another operations hub is expected to open in America later this year.
For its new Basingstoke facility, THEMPC has invested in a Canon imagePress C810 digital printer as well as two machines from Roland DG – an LEF-200 benchtop UV flatbed printer and a VersaCamm SP-540i wide-format printer.
On the finishing side it runs Dyss, Vivid, Polar, Duplo, and Renz machines, among others.
The Munich operation runs Konica Minolta Bizhubs and a range of finishing equipment for trimming, folding, and mailing.
With 10 staff including two directors, and a turnover of £1.5m, THEMPC specialises in branded merchandise including welcome packs, corporate goodie bags and branded USBs for events, client and employee onboarding, and broader promotional campaigns.
Its services include campaign management, design and manufacturing, as well as storage for assets and picking, packing and distribution to clients.
