The print industry turns a million pages a month on printweek.com

Printweek.com has reached a major milestone in its development as the website of choice for the print industry, with its audience now looking at more than 1m pages in January.

Our audience is close to 100,000 uniques for the month, so it seems a fantastic time to acknowledge the support and interest the site has received from the industry since its launch not even two years ago.

As the quality online news service, the site has become an indispensable business tool for those that need to be in the know, as well as the heart of opinion and debate on its lively forums with nearly 2,000 posts a month.

And so it is with a great amount of gratitude to the industry for its support that we can announce these milestone figures.

We've always believed that an online news channel would work as a business tool for the industry – even though our interest is print. To insist that print be the only form of communication used if we are to support the industry would mean we should also stop using the telephone and voice – let alone the Internet.

But supporting the industry is precisely our motivation. It's why we have employed so many journalists to provide timely and accurate coverage of the industry. It's why we don't edit out valid opinion from the community with which we might not agree or be comfortable. Because we believe that our industry needs an open platform for debate and to engage with the issues that matter to its peers.

The proof is in the way the print industry has gathered to the site. Average visit length: more than six minutes, and an average of more than four pages per visit (and more than 250,000 of those so far this month).

It's also why our international reach is so vast, boasting readers from South Korea to the Sudan, Uzbekistan to Bangladesh.

We're evolving too, with initiatives such as guest bloggers giving an industry insider's view, and webcasts offering practical insights into a subject from printers that have already made a success of it.
