The investment included a CMC 250 envelope enclosing line from CMC Equipment UK, which is due to be installed in the first week of December, and an MB-System 438 folder/accumulator, which was installed in October and will run inline with the 250.
TMP already runs two Buhrs BB300 inserting lines and two Sitma polywrapping lines.
The driver for this latest spend by TMP, a subsidiary of Portsmouth-based Bishops Printers, was to fulfil existing mailing work commitments that involve multiple sheet matching, which was previously completed by hand.
“We have invested heavily in marketing this year, which has brought on board a number of new customers,” said TMP general manager Kristian Harrington.
“This new addition to our kit allows us to continue to grow efficiently and offer other services to our customers that we haven’t before, such as selective insertion.
“We have grown successfully year-on-year and will continue to do so. Our customers are across all industries with no reliance on any one sector and are predominantly end-users, allowing us to work closely with the customers to add value and achieve the best results from their mailing campaigns.”
The line can process around 15,000 envelopes per hour, taking most envelope sizes, including DL, C5 and C4. Its modular construction allows for a range of optional ancillary equipment that can either be installed with it or retrofitted, and it offers four-way camera matching with selective insertion.
The MB 438 can match and accumulate up to six 100gsm sheets and fold them in a single pass, with the CMC set to run inline and able to match the enclosing speed of the machine, around 12,000 C5 items per hour.
Originally established in 2012 as the mailing division of parent company Bishops Printers, TMP is now a 26-strong team and in 2016, the firm doubled its turnover to £1.5 million, a figure that has now increased to £1.7m.
Its runs equipment from the 2,800sqm Farlington, Hampshire premises it shares with parent Bishops that includes two Xerox Nuvera 144s, a Color J75 and a Versant 2100, as well as Videojet and AstroJet inkjet systems.
