Tate adds Lake kit for contract

Till roll and betting slip specialist Tate Consumables has installed a raft of Lake Image monitoring equipment after winning a "significant" contract.

The Dunstable-based company won a contract to produce around 200m lottery tickets a year.

Every ticket includes a seven-digit number and a matching 24-bit binary code. Each delivery of 10m slips cannot include any duplicates or missing numbers.

As the binary code is unique to this application, Lake Image developed specific software to read, decode and compare the OCR data with the code.

Stuart Boardman, business unit director of print at Tate Consumables, said: "We needed to achieve 1,400 slips per minute."
