Swytch, which runs a combination of litho, screen, and digital printing technologies had found its last MIS unable to cope with the company’s growing needs.
Managing director Kevin Boyle told Printweek that the business needed something more tailored to its business than the previous system it had been running, which he called "more of a generic litho printing MIS".
The £60,000 purchase of i-teba’s SolPrint system, he added, came from a need for adaptability.
“Our business is quite diversified, it’s not just one discipline. So that’s where SolPrint came into its own really.”
Swytch employs 13 people at its 2,300sqm Leicester site, running a mix of equipment including a wide-format Durst P10 roll-to-roll printer, and HP Indigo and Xeikon digital presses. The business was born out of Retail Print Solutions, which went into voluntary liquidation in December 2020.
The software’s implementation has been a steady project over the past six months, and the firm hoped to use its new MIS as a backbone to support future growth on its £2.4m turnover.
According to Boyle, the system’s internal modules that manage estimates and production are almost complete.
With these finished, the company will move on to the customer-facing parts of the system, such as its store profiling and campaign management capabilities, which Swytch found particularly attractive.
With the system complete, customers will be able to raise quotes and monitor progress of their work through the factory directly through the software.
For such a significant task as updating an MIS, Boyle said that training had gone smoothly, and the correspondent team had proved supportive.
He said: “[They were] very helpful, very on-the-ball. It was all done remotely, which was good especially with what’s been going on in the last few years.
“They have a core system, and then we’ve tailored what we need to make our business work.”
