Surrey printer bought by American firm

Surrey digital printer Four Point Printing has been acquired by a US-based company, in a deal brokered by specialist M&A advisors Evolution CBS.

The four-staff business will continue to trade with the same name and there are no staff changes planned, according to production manager Jimmy Evans, who said the acquisition by Michigan company Imperial CRS, on Friday, will mean more work coming through.

Imperial CRS intends to expand the Shepperton printer, which has been servicing medical and local companies, specialising in clinical trial and regulatory materials since 1979, alongside an as yet unspecified investment in infrastructure. Four Point currently runs Xerox machines.

President of Imperial CRS Steve Swanson said in a statement: “We are committed to expanding our production capabilities and global footprint. Four Point’s capabilities are complementary with those of Imperial and allow us to further support our clients and their EU sites.

“Four Point allows us to improve our EU delivery times and our competitiveness.”

Four Point Printing was formerly owned by Michael Griffiths, who is staying on as director of operations – UK.

“The synergies were obvious to us. We fit seamlessly into Imperial’s plans for expansion in the EU,” he said in a separate statement.

Imperial CBS is a large clinical research support organisation comprising three companies – DAC Patient Recruitment Services, ClinicaLingua Translation Service and Imperial Graphics.

The acquisition of Four Point will give Imperial Graphics a dedicated UK site to channel print jobs such as recruitment for medical trials and foreign language conversion documentation.

Evans added: “All our existing customers will be served in the same way.”

According to Evolution CBS, there is now an increasingly active M&A market and a highly competitive market for good UK businesses.
