Superior Printing Ink targets narrow web and label markets

Teterboro, NJ-based Superior Printing Ink this week rolled out a new line of water-based UV flexographic ink targeting the narrow-web and label markets across the US.

Superior Printing Ink vice president of product development George Varughese told PrintWeek: "We are not seeing a lot of growth in the oil-based system, but we’re are seeing some growth in the water-based UV curing mainly because these printer can get a faster turnaround with the UV, which helps their operations."

Like many of their commercial printing customers, Superior Printing Ink has experienced some challenging times in recent years, but Varughese suggested these new inks will enable the company to better define and grow their market share.

"Some people are looking to expand or enhance their flexo business, while others may be experiencing problems with their current supplier," he explained adding that the company is targeting not just flexo press owners focused on surface printing or lamination, but also print primarily focused on labels.

"So far the reaction has been good,’ Varughese, noting Superior Printing Ink is now looking to expand beyond its current customer base in the Northeast to other parts of the US."
