Chief marketing officer Konstantin Zakharov said that the Neo UV-LED Evolution Flatbed would "be positioned as the unique solution for colour printing onto glass, plastic, metal sheets, stone and other media of weight up to 300kg and thickness up to 20cm for a competitive price".
Applications for the new machine include advertising, furniture manufacturing and glass decoration.
The flatbed will have a 3.2x2m static bed with a moving print carriage, which the company claimed would improve the accuracy of print for very high-quality work. A felt-coated vacuum bed will be an option for glass decoration.
Productivity will be between 8-33sqm per hour, dependent on quality and whether white ink is used or not. T
Sun added that the ability of the Konica Minolta printheads used to produce droplets as small as four picolitres ensured extremely high quality was possible.
The Neo UV-LED Evolution Flatbed will join the company's range of roll-to-roll and hybrid machines in October.
A CMYKLcLm+W machine supplied with 14 Konica Minolta 1024 printing heads, and 4 UV-LED blocks will cost €120,000-130,000 – 20% more than the Neo UV-LED Evolution hybrid.
