The ink manufacturer is to supply between one and two tanker-loads of ink every day to the plant, which began printing on its 3.88m Cerutti press on 31 March, and started commercial printing just two weeks later.
A remote controlled telemetric control has been installed to make sure that the super-wide gravure presses receive correct amounts of Sun Chemical's High Reduction Series inks.
A team of engineers from the ink firm are based at Sheffield to monitor storage in 11 tanks which each contain 30 tonnes of ink. The team also oversees the automatic distribution of ink to the presses.
Sun Chemical corporate vice-president and managing director Charles Murray said that the partnership demonstrates the firm's "ability to provide expertise on major capital projects".
Chris Barker, Polestar commercial director, said he was "delighted" to have secured "Sun Chemical's commitment to Polestar and to UK gravure ink production."
