Stylish skier turns to print to upgrade kit

Staying at the forefront of fashion is key when hitting the slopes, so Gobet Production were more than happy to help out a stylish skier wanting to upgrade their look for the new season.

What did the job entail?

Gobet Production was approached by a skier keen to update his skis for the new season of snow sports on the Swiss mountains. Strangely, this is not the first time Vernier-based Gobet Production has received such a quirky order to refresh style-conscious skier and snowboarders’ equipment.

How was it produced?
An overlay for the skis was produced on self-adhesive vinyl with gloss laminate printed on an HP Scitex LX600 Latex printer at Gobet Production’s Vernier plant near Geneva, Switzerland. This wood effect overlay was then applied to the skis in plant and cut by hand to fit around the binding ready for the stylish skier to hit the slopes with his new season skis.

What challenges were overcome?
The skier wanted his equipment back in good time to head straight out on to the slopes, so the Gobet Production team had to turn the job around in an hour, from conception and design to the final cutting on the skis.

What was the feedback?
Gobet Production co-director Philippe Julliand said:  "These types of jobs are great for demonstrating the wide-ranging work we can undertake. Customers are not only delighted by the stunning quality and vibrancy of the graphics we can produce with our HP Latex Printer, but by the fact that we can give them a unique design that nobody else will have."
