Stralfors installs System 5000 following booklet contract win

Transactional printer Stralfors has invested in a Digital System 5000 bookletmaker from Duplo following a new contract win.

The group's Orpington, Kent site installed the 5000 to handle a surge of digital booklet work, created by the undisclosed new business win.

The contract was previously fulfilled in Chicago and shipped to the UK, but Stralfors won the deal on the back of faster turnaround time and slashed shipping costs.

The 5000 will allow Stralfors to produce the brochures in varying paginations, rather than the fixed paginations of the incumbent.

According to the company, the quality control functions of the 5000 also made it highly suitable for financial literature.

UK operations director Tony Plummer said: "This machine will allow us to personalise digital booklets, as well as enable us to print on different materials – a new product offering that we will be looking to market."

The machine can run at speeds of up to 5,000 booklets per hour. It will handle work printed on Xerox iGen and Nuvera machines.
