The recently installed machine replaced a Duplo 2000 system, which has been part-exchanged.
The device can produce A4 books at a rate of up to 3,250 per hour. The maximum sheet size is 320x500mm with a minimum of 148x200mm.
The company will use the machine to finish order forms, delivery notes, invoices, business cards, compliment slips and letterheads as well as full-colour leaflets and brochures.
Director Paul Stagg said: “We do a lot of trade NCR work and that’s predominantly what we will use this machine for.
“We’ve been doing more and more booklet work recently and our old machine wasn’t up to it. The 5000 is nice and easy to use and a lot more intuitive than the old machine; it’s a lot easier to adjust and make ready on.”
The company looked at a range of other alternatives but found the Duplo device to be best suited to its requirements.
The business also operates two Heidelberg Speedmaster 52 litho presses, a one-colour and a two-colour, as well as a Konica Minolta Bizhub Pro C6000 digital printer.
It runs finishing equipment including a Polar N 78 Eco guillotine, a Heidelberg Platen, a Stahl Ti36 folder and a Morgana Digifold 5000 creaser folder and also offers laminating, drilling, stitching and handwork at its 279sqm premises.
The family-run business, which has three staff and a turnover of £300,000, serves trade customers, design agencies and print brokers as well as other print companies, small businesses and multinational companies.
