Stora Enso, Ence and Votorantim Celulose e Papel (VCP) have all followed Sdra with news of price increases for softwood and hardwood pulp (PrintWeek, 28 September).
Stora Enso is to raise its Northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp price by $30 per tonne to $480 per tonne from 1 October.
Its eucalyptus pulp will also rise, to E465 per tonne, along with the price for its northern birch pulp.
Spanish producer Ence is raising its market price for eucalyptus pulp to E465 per tonne from 1 October until further notice.
Brazils VCP announced a $30-per-tonne increase on its eucalyptus list price to $430 per tonne, which will also take effect from 1 October.
Stora Enso has also shut down its BM 5 at Imatra mill in Finland as part of a unit rebuild to replace the majority of the machine press section. The project is set to cost nearly 10m (E16m).
The company is also investing over 12m in a revamp of the plants unbleached pulp line supplying BM 5. This will involve a rebuild of the plants batch digester line and improvements to its chip feeding section.
The unbleached pulp lines capacity of 170,000 tonnes a year will be unchanged following the rebuild.
