"We feel that the price rise is in line with market demand," said a spokesman for the Swedish forest products group. "We have seen an increase in demand for birch and eucalyptus pulp."
The increase follows similar rises in the price of eucalyptus pulp from Ence and Aracruz, taking their tariffs to 291 and 258 a tonne respectively.
Other pulp producers are expected to follow suit and raise their prices.
The price of Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft (NBSK) pulp remains under continued pressure, with supply levels high and spot deals still available on the market.
