Ari Lehikoinen has been appointed managing director of the firm and is currently based in Belgium. He was previously employed in Stora Enso's packaging research and development site Innocentre in Finland.
The aim of the venture is to further develop the digital production line for manufacturing Stora's Discbox Slider (DBS), a board-based package designed to replace plastic packaging used for CDs and DVDs.
At Drupa the two firms showed the turnkey production line made up of a Xeikon 5000 digital press in line with a DBS converter and DBS Pac Master finisher.
The creation of the integrated digital line, which delivers automated on- demand production, converting and packing was in response to the increasing fragmentation of the market and the need for short runs and personalisation.

Stora Enso and Xeikon develop packaging arm
Stora Enso and Xeikon have formed a joint venture, Stora Enso Digital Solutions, to handle the sales, service and development of the integrated production line for producing disc packaging for CDs and DVDs that the firms announced at Drupa.
