Staffordshire Printing aims to double turnover following Sanxin buy

Staffordshire Printing has set its sights on doubling its turnover by the summer after boosting its two-colour press capacity with a Sanxin YK522.

Based in Stoke-on-Trent, the five-staff printer bought the machine from UK supplier Printers Superstore in a deal that included a used DPX CTP system.

Ken Beresford, managing director of Staffordshire Printing, said he opted for the Chinese press as it combined high specifications with competitive pricing.

"You could put it alongside anything else on the market and it wouldn’t look out of place and in some respects it is better," he said.

The printer, part of Crewe-based Office Services, now has the press and CTP up and running to help the company cope with a steady demand for litho work.

Beresford said: "We’re on course to double Staffordshire Printing’s turnover by the summer. We’re a general jobbing printer and, although we do some more prestigious colour work, our ‘bread and butter’ work is in two- and three-colour stationery.

"The demand is still there and so long as we stay competitive and work hard, we can make money. The Sanxin press is already helping us bring new work in."

Staffordshire Printing operates from a 280m2 site and runs the new Sanxin with a range of pre-press and finishing equipment.

Last month, Sanxin was acquired by Chinese press manufacturer Hans-Gronhi in a move to grow its global presence.
