St Ives settles merger terms

A settlement has been reached between St Ives and the GPMU following the multimedia division's merger in the south.

Earlier this year St Ives announced that Tunbridge Wells would close and merge with its Crayford site of point of sale specialist Displaycraft (PrintWeek, 26 February). It followed major client Deluxe's decision to move its print work to the division's Blackburn site.

Around 32 jobs will go, but the remaining Tunbridge Wells staff will transfer to Crayford. Employees that were made redundant will get a statutory payoff while those moving will receive in the region of 2,000.

"The settlement was agreed by a two to one majority of the workforce and we believe the agreement is a good one," said GPMU South East branch officer Dennis Spencer.
