SR sells plant to Communisis

SR Communications has sold its Leicester-based response management and fulfilment services site to Communisis Security Products because it was draining its profits.

The site was set up two years ago. Managing director John Burbidge said: “It is a wonderful facility, created at great expense, but we were having problems convincing buyers of the benefits of digital storage.”

Centurion, owned by Communisis, approached SR to use the facilities.

“Like Victor Kiam, they liked it so much, they bought the company,” said Burbidge.

“We’ve had a tough year, but we’ve achieved good profits in London. We’ll now refocus on the direct marketing industry.”

SR plans to invest £2m in ink-jet and variable data printing in 2003.
