Springtek has launched LBB3, a bigger and faster version of its low-cost RAID system.
The firm developed the LBB3 to meet the increased demands of the market for larger amounts of storage space and faster data transfer brought about by more powerful servers, faster networks and the increased uptake of CTP.
The demise of film is increasing the demand for storage, and increased demands for storage needs faster networking, said Springtek managing director Robert Long.
LBB3 can hold up to eight 75GB disks, which give a usable capacity including a failsafe back-up of 525GB. It has a read speed of 100MB/s and a write speed of 60MB/s.
The aim was to double the performance of the previous product, said sales manager Peter Thornhill. The storage need in print is always about 10% more than what is available.
Expected price for the most highly configured unit will be around 10,000, about two-thirds of the price of equivalent systems according to Springtek.
It will be sold via dealers including Litho Supplies, MCSi and NCS Group.
