The Hull company confirmed the £750,000 investment at Drupa last week.
Its new press will have the same configuration, with JetConverter inline finishing system, as the first Truepress Jet L350UV it installed in 2014.
In the summer of 2015 Springfield followed this up with a second press, with offline finishing.
The firm also runs HP Indigo digital presses.
“Our inline finishing volume has grown significantly, so we elected to invest in a third machine so we can print and finish simultaneously at 50m/hour,” explained managing director, operations, Dennis Ebeltoft. “Business is good and we are adding new customers all the time.”
Managing director, innovation, Matt Dass added: “Our relationship with Screen is excellent. They are a very professional organisation from service to sales.”
Ebeltoft said run lengths varied, but that the firm could produce up to 20,000 linear metres of labels in a single shift on the Truepress.
The 100-staff, £10m turnover firm has recently expanded its sales team with a new recruit covering the south.
It is also expanding its facilities into an adjoining building, which will more than double the size of its print facility. Its current site is just under 460sqm, and the new unit is 616sqm.
It will relocate some of its existing equipment as a result.
Springfield’s printing facilities have been 100% digital since 2013. Its customer base included clients in food, automotive, paints and coatings, and nutraceuticals.
The firm marked its 40th anniversary at the end of last year, with a rebrand.
Screen Europe president Brian Filler said: “It’s nice that our relationship with Springfield has continued, and I’m delighted to have been involved from their very first machine to their latest Truepress. They are moving forwards and growing their business.”
