This Saturday (June 9) will bring to an end the Sports Telegraph’s 100-year printed history. At its height, the publication was selling around 12,000 copies each week, but is currently only notching up sales of between 2,500 and 3,500.
Michelle Hurst, deputy editor of the Grimsby Telegraph, said: “We think that the decline in sales has been accelerated by the football league programme. Games are no longer just on at 3pm on a Saturday any more and, as a result, people are accessing information from a number of different sources.”
Grimsby sports fans will be able to get their information from a new website launched last month which will feature all popular sports in the area from grass roots all the way up to professional levels.
The Grimsby Telegraph is owned by the Daily Mail and General Trust.
