Spectrum invests in kit and sale

Spectrum Labels has spent 750,000 on a new press and building extension

Spectrum Labels has spent 750,000 on a new press and building extension.

The Nilpeter DL-3300 digital full-colour reel-to-reel label press makes the Warrington plant "one of the most modern-equipped facilities in the UK," said sales and marketing manager Brian Johnson.

It cost 450,000 and the 40-staff firm hopes it will help increase turnover by 1m in little more than a year by targeting short-run labels.

"This is not for high-volume work, but for labels where there are lots of variations," said Johnson. "We are looking at the chemical and bathroom and special foods industries."

The firm, with sales of 2.7m, added the Nilpeter to its kit range, which includes a six-colour Iwasaki offset litho press and smaller Mark Andy flexo presses.

Builders have recently added the final touches to a 700m2 extension to its 1,700m2 two-storey plant. It means more production space with environmental controls to ensure maximum efficiency.

Spectrum Labels has also won ISO 9002 for labelmaking, after a year of audits from BSI.
