Southernprint opts for 64pp MAN

Southernprint is set to increase the UKs web offset capacity further with the installation of a MAN Roland Lithoman IV as part of a 7m investment.

The 64pp press, capable of 42,000 copies per hour, is due to be operational at the companys Poole plant by next April and will boost Southernprints capacity by 30%. It will replace two existing Komori webs.

The company installed a 48pp Heidelberg M4000 last summer, and the original plan was that it would take a second press of this type.

However, Southernprint managing director Stephen Clark said: We had an option on a second. But following a market review we decided to go for the larger width press. MAN was able to supply the required specification, crucially to our required time-span.
