The machine, which was installed at the Gravesend-based commercial printer’s premises two weeks ago, cost £15,000. The older model was part-exchanged.
The Polar ECO 66 guillotine features a 5.5in mono low-set keyboard with a 198 capacity programme store. The stainless steel bed provides a cutting width and depth of 670mm, which makes it suitable for 370x520mm or B3-format work. The clamp max opening height is 80mm.
Managing director Simon Jones said it is testament to the build of the guillotine that, after 16 years running a Polar 66, the business has returned to Heidelberg for another machine in the same format.
“The first Polar performed beautifully and we really had our money’s worth so there was no decision to make. We wanted the same again.”
He added: “We certainly think the Polar ECO 66 is value for money and we will use it across a range of work. It’s more reliable and a bit quicker than the older machine.”
