Singh departure is confirmed

Blackburns has confirmed that Gurdev Singh has stepped down from the firm but declined to comment over rumours that Singhs departure followed an offer to buy the company.

Following the news that Singh had gone (PrintWeek, 26 August) a statement from chairman Robert Atkinson said that Singh had stepped down from the board with immediate effect and would be on gardening leave until February 2005.

"Although his association with the company has been short, his impact has been very significant and the board would like to thank him for his contribution, and wish him well in the alternative opportunities he proposes to pursue next year," said Atkinson.

Singh had been with Blackburns for just eight months and joined the firm from Communisis Chorleys. Earlier this summer Blackburns rebranded as part of the first phase of a restructuring and repositioning initiative kick-started by Singh (PrintWeek, 5 July).
