Webmart founder and executive chairman Simon Biltcliffe is returning as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Oxford Brookes University.

In this role he will mentor and pass on hands-on business experience to future entrepreneurs with the aim to help them build successful, profitable businesses that do good and give back.

Biltcliffe will join leaders from organisations including Jaguar Land Rover, Comic Relief, Cafédirect and the UN World Food Programme as Entrepreneurs in Residence and Visiting Industrial Fellows.

Giles Orr, head of business and external engagement at Oxford Brookes Business School, said: “Simon has been a supporter of the Business School for some time now, inspiring students with his unconventional approaches to industry structures and company activities, and challenging our academics to think about the world from a range of perspectives.

“Endlessly energetic and engaging, he is a maverick and rule-breaker who demonstrates that accepted approaches to business success are not always the only way to go.

“His insights and sometimes uncomfortable home truths are what the Business School needs to maintain in leading work in teaching and research. Every organisation needs someone like Simon!”

Biltcliffe founded Webmart in 1996 to benefit both people and the planet and the B Corp business has donated more than £720,000 to charity and is pioneering new sustainable marketing services to reduce the environmental impact and carbon footprint of marketing.

Biltcliffe commented: “I'm very happy to continue to support the great work that Oxford Brookes University does, whilst bringing my experience and network to support the talented students and alumni to make a positive change in the world.

“I am simply a catalyst in the process, matching very bright people to people that can help them, but in so doing hopefully we can accelerate the good that they do. Something that Webmart has been doing for the last 27 years in trying to show that capitalism can be a solution, rather than a threat to a world that we can all thrive in.”
