The 40-year-old Letchworth Garden City-based firm, which produces POS for the retail sector, installed its second 16.22 Lamina Blackline five years after booting up its first one, which remains at the site.
Production director Craig Donachie did not disclose the price but said: “We needed a new laminator to handle increasing volumes – we were unable to cope at peak periods.
“This was especially the case with very very long runs. If something more urgent came in we'd have to break into the longer runs, which was disruptive.”
Showcard Print operates a range of wide-format digital, screen and litho kit and produces materials for some of the best-known retail brands on the market.
“We purchased our first Lamina Blackline about five years ago and have been very happy with it,” said managing director Mark Smith.
“With the addition of the new Blackline we are now doubling our mounting capacity. This is a key factor in our continued growth strategy within the CAD-engineered 3D display sector.”
Showcard Print has around 150 staff and a turnover of over £20m. In March it bought an Inca Digital Onset X3 to run alongside kit including a 5m-wide Durst and a Heidelberg litho press.
