The press was supplied by distributor Concorde Copiers and Short Run Press will use the 1050 in the production of short-run monochrome books.
It can produce 105 A4 pages per minute and will enable Short Run Press to target customers ordering print runs of 50. According to Short Run Press sales manager Mark Couch, the 1050 was chosen because of its quality. "The print quality is as good, if not better than the results from offset litho," he said.
"It is definitely the way ahead and it is an important growth area for us."
Konica Minolta claims that the 1050 can generate monthly volumes of 300,000 A4 sheets, up to a maximum of 1.5m.
It has a post inserter that can be used for pre-printed covers or to insert sheets.
