Serendipity marks launch of Veripress v4 with largest EU install

Australia-based Serendipity Software has followed up this month's launch of its Veripress v4 softproofing software with its largest European installation to date.

Veripress is an on-press softproofing system designed to give press operators a colour-accurate visual reference with which to better match client expectations.

It uses ripped files from platesetter RIPs to ensure content integrity and includes a built-in colour verification system, Calcheck, to ensure colour-accurate proofs.

According to Serendipity, Calcheck verifies the performance of the monitor against the gamut of the printing process rather than verifying the accuracy of the monitor profile.

Peter Skarpetis, chief executive of Serendipity, said: "In today's busy press environment there is less time available for making hard-copy proofs. The speed of Veripress ensures proofs are available on-press as soon as the plates are being imaged."

Graham Page, managing director of UK distributor Sandstone Software, added: "Handling customer expectation is the key thing. For instance, if you want to print on a cheaper paper, you can't get the same result as you get on a high-quality paper, but what our Veripress and Blackmagic software can do, for the first time ever, is show you that paper on the screen with the CMYK or spot colours on top of it."

Veripress includes support for touchscreens and can proof any multi-colour printing process, as well as featuring support for unlimited spot colours.

Holland-based commercial printer BDU recently installed Veripress across two Manroland 700 sheetfed presses and two web presses.

Serendipity's software is distributed in the UK by Sandstone Software Europe via resellers Positive Focus and Fuji Graphic Systems.
