Stephen Goodman joined the £69m group this week, replacing Henry Breese who had worked at the company for the past two-and-a-half years.
Goodman previously a director at flexible packaging specialist Britton Group, which was acquired by Sun Capital Partners in the summer of 2011.
Chief executive Chris Ingram thanked Breese for his contribution to the company during a pivotal period involving major acquisitions, and said the change had come about as a result of expansion at the group.
“The business has grown enormously and nearly trebled in size, and we’ve brought in new skill sets to reflect that and to take the business forward. Stephen is an experienced FD of a company with sales in the sphere of £150m, with multiple manufacturing sites, and is experienced in dealing with institutional investors,” he explained.
Breese, who joined York Mailing from outside the industry, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my two-and-a-bit years in printing, and especially working with Chris and the team – it is a great business. I will certainly look to stay in the print arena, as it is an exciting space.”
At the end of last year the group strengthened its board with the appointment of Richard Connell as its new chairman, and mailing expert Judith Donovan CBE as non-executive director.
Separately, Ingram said the new Goss Sunday 4000 48pp short-grain web at the group’s Pindar plant in Scarborough was now fully up and running.
“It’s a superb piece of kit. The investments we’ve made mean that factory is now one of the most advanced facilities in Europe,” he said.
