Germany-headquartered CGS Oris develops a range of proofing, colour management and workflow solutions for the print and packaging industry.
The firm was established in 1985 and its partnership with Screen dates back to the early 1990s when the companies worked on colour technologies for Screen’s high-end scanners and recorders at the time.
CGS Oris also works with a range of digital press specialists and lists its partners as including with Canon, Epson, Fujifilm, HP, Konica Minolta, Landa and Xerox.
CEO Bernd Rueckert has worked at the company for more than 25 years.
Screen Graphic Solutions is known as Screen GA. Kunio Muraji, a near-40-year veteran of the business, becomes the new COO of CGS Oris.
Screen said he had helmed the development of a number of its flagship products, including the Truepress Jet 520 range.
In his new role, Muraji will “further enhance the business synergy already shared by Screen GA and CGS”.
“Going forward, the partners will work to integrate CGS’s colour technologies with the core colour management systems used in Screen GA’s Truepress series of digital inkjet presses and workflow products. This is expected to drive significant new innovations in intuitive, high-function printing technologies,” Screen stated.
In addition, the two firms plan to deliver “even more advanced colour management solutions” through the integration of CGS know-how with Screen GA’s workflow systems, which include Equios.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
At Drupa CGS Oris will major on advanced colour management and proofing onto special substrates with “unparalleled accuracy” using its software and printers from Mutoh and Roland DG.
Screen will take the wraps off its new 150m/min Truepress Jet 560HDX inkjet web press targeted at commercial print, publishing and direct mail.
CGS Oris was already located on the Drupa floorplan near to Screen, its booth is across the aisle from the Japanese manufacturer in Hall 8a.
