The new 5,400sqm facility is more than twice the size of Screen’s current location in Amstelveen, which has been its European home for 40 years.
Around a third of the new site, at Aalsmeer, will house Screen’s Inkjet Innovation Center Europe including a showroom and inkjet experience centre.
Screen Europe marketing director Taishi Motoshige commented: “Amstelveen has served us well as a central base to support our growth in Europe.
“But to continue to grow in the current business field and to develop new business in the other fields, we simply need more space to display our products.”
He said the new showroom would house a raft of digital presses including the Truepress Jet520 HD inkjet web, Truepress Jet L350UV SAI label press, and the new water-based Truepress Pac520P for flexible packaging, “but we’ll soon add innovative new presses and technology”.
It will include partner products for software and post-press.
The move to the new site will be carried out in phases. The warehouse has already relocated, office functions are set to move in December, with the showroom relocation scheduled for the spring of 2023.
Sales at Screen’s Graphic Arts Equipment division were up 6.2% in H1, to ¥22.2bn (£135.4m) as sales of print-on-demand and other equipment increased along with recurring business such as inks. “Sales and profits increased, benefiting from the positive impact of foreign exchange rates,” Screen stated.
