Schillinger's departure follows the decision to make the UK Muller Martini's Northern Europe headquarters under newly-appointed regional manager Dirk Deceuninck, previously managing director of Muller Martini Benelux.
Deceuninck, who retains his responsibility for Benelux, will also oversee operations in the UK and Nordic regions, incorporating Scandinavia and Estonia, from the company's facility in Iver, Berkshire.
He said it was his decision to run the Northern European operations from the Berkshire base as the UK was the "largest area with the largest potential" within the region.
It is understood that Schillinger is to leave the company by the end of 2012 as part of an amicable decision with the board. He was unavailable for comment on his departure and details of his next career move are still under wraps.
According to Deceuninck, who has already assumed his new role, no other country-level managing directors within the Northern Europe region are leaving the company.
Managers for the remaining seven regions, including Asia, China, South America, North America and Eastern and Southern Europe, are yet to be decided, Deceuninck added.
In September, PrintWeek reported that Muller Martini was in the early stages of moving from a local to a regional operating structure. Jutta Thellmann, marketing director for Muller Martini, said that Northern Europe’s headquarters would be based in the region’s most profitable market.
She said the restructure was to continue the local sales and service networks and have specialists in each region.
